BankerGirl’s Week in Review 5.30.08
I’ve been gallivanting with celebrities and Fortune 500 VIPs all week as part of a big charity event (to be clear, when I say ‘celebrities’ I don’t mean the type that are in tabloids, but the C-list kind who make a big splash when they visit in our little town because nothing ever happens here). If I have learned anything from spending time with the extremely rich and pampered, it’s that kindness counts.
Be nice, people!
Here’s a few posts I like this week:
“The End of the World as We Know It” at AllFinancialMatters: love the REM reference, and the content is something I’ve been intended to write about - do our kids have a chance at financial literacy?
“How to be a good manager: be generous” at Brazen Careerist: my favorite bosses have been the ones who gave as much as they got - I happily worked my tail off for these kinds of leaders.
“How to say no to anything - or anyone” at MSN Money: I am getting better at saying no simply because my calendar cannot take another ‘yes’ - and the sucker’s choice is a take-away from a crucial conversations class I took last year.
And finally, from the BankerGirl archives, Why Every Household Should Have at Least Three Bank Accounts: in light of yesterday’s post about marriage, I wanted to reiterate that everyone should have a little something of their own. If you have control of some money, you have some power.
