BankerGirl’s Week in Review 6.15.08
It’s been a very strange week here, between the weather and our clean-up efforts, my writing hasn’t been very focused, so thanks for bearing with me. In the spirit of all the crazy stuff that’s going on around here, this week’s links are completely unrelated to each other (but stuck a cord with me):
Sara (On Simplicity) wrote a simple, stunning piece on how to Fall in Love with Life. A nice reminder to recognize the rare, joyful moments when happiness shines down.
Jeremy at Generation X Finance provided some excellent homeowner’s insurance advice. Right about now, I’m wishing I had more thought to purchase flood insurance or some kind of storm sewer rider on my existing homeowner’s policy.
Trent (The Simple Dollar) offers a list of things you can help flood victims. Thanks to all of those who sent thoughts and prayers our way over the past couple of weeks.
My final link is to this memorial piece on Tim Russert (Newsweek). I never met the man in person, yet his passing will leave a major hole in my life. I can’t imagine Sunday mornings without him, and I don’t know who I’ll turn to for unbiased coverage of November’s election. He will truly be missed.
Finally, I’ve been trying to find the right words to honor my father on this Father’s Day. Between the standing water in his fields and the fact that he’ll be undergoing a major medical procedure later this week, I’m at a loss as to what to write.
So, I’ll keep it simple.
Thanks, Dad, for giving me my entrepreneurial bent (which I’ve yet to fully explore), for my ability to create order out of chaos (much like your desk), for my stubborn streak (which helps as least as often as it hurts), and my know-it-all attitude. I know that you are baffled by me most of the time, but thanks for being my biggest supporter. You’re the strongest-willed person I know, and I am confident that you’re going to come out of this week physically stronger and better than ever.
Stumble it!

Yay! Thanks for including my post here. That one was off the cuff and straight from the heart. Best of luck with everything that’s going on with you.
