The Carnival of Money Stories #45 has Arrived!
I’m so excited to be hosting my first carnival! My thanks to all who submitted material.
BankerGirl’s Picks
This is a great little piece about promoting yourself through speaking engagements. Wonderful advice! I have started doing presentations on debt and cash management and the positive feedback has been a treat!
A very thoughtful article about one woman’s struggle between becoming a SAHM and going back to work after a long maternity leave. I can’t fathom making this decision. Ever.
Cash Money Life submits a nice post about how mortgage payments can change - unfortunately, mine only seem to be going up!
This piece at Gather Little By Little reminds me of when I was younger. I used to try to rationalize why bad things happen to good people - but my new motto is “life is funny” - sometimes you just have to roll with it.
I have always been what I call an “experiential spender” - meaning I spend on experiences (travel, food, etc) rather than stuff. Here, Money Blue Book takes a look at buying the ultimate football experience.
Saving Money
RacerX at Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Money presents Easy Savings to Your Budget Using Cash.
I am so afraid of being labeled “one of those” - I need to get over myself and take some tips from Stephanie at stop the ride!
Having the cash to shop is priceless! Check out this submission from wealthy_1 at collectingmycash.
BeThisWay offers great advice for purchasing auto insurance here.
Peter sent in Free Stuff: Trade Your old CDs and DVDs for an Ipod.
Some good things are just plain good. Check out this list from Ryan.
Debt
Ryan Healy submitted this post about the commitment that it takes to get out of debt and stay out.
Many, many people are guilty of thinking the mentality that paidtwice discusses at length here. Excellent article and excellent discussion.
Personally, I was never happy to be declined for credit, but the author of this piece claims to be happy hearing “no” from her bank.
Economy
Here is a little reminder about self-fulfilling prophecies courtesy of Mark Riffey’s Business is Personal blog.
This funny/tragic/true post at My Two Dollars sums up the problems with the government’s “economic stimulus package” rather nicely.
Investing
Silicon Valley Blogger offers up this piece about investment newsletters and paid advice.
The Stock Market is On Sale! Great post by Kyle about why you should invest now.
If you’re considering flipping in this cheap real estate environment, check out this piece at Two Wise Acres.
I’m an ENTP, but I can appreciate what An INTJ offers up in the post When Compounding Returns Isn’t That Important.
Other
This is an interesting take on one’s relationship with money, read all about it at Credit Withdrawal.
Moolanomy offers this story about The Big Rocks of Life. I have heard/seen this many times, but I haven’t thought about it for several years - I think that my Big Rocks are changing as I get older.
Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad, Poor Dad inspired someone. Huh.
Finally, I loved this rant from Living Off Dividends! I concur!
Thanks again to all who participated. You can view past carnivals at the Carnival of Money Stories homepage: http://carnivalofmoneystories.wordpress.com/ Enjoy!
Stumble it!
