Carnival of Personal Finance at The Baglady

I will be resuming my regular posting schedulel shortly (I plan to increase posting frequency once we have DSL installed at home), but until then, check out this week’s issue of the 141st addition of The Carnival of Personal Finance at The Baglady.  There are lots of great articles there, including my piece on CSAs.

Enjoy!

Hi Heidi - I just wanted to tell you that after reading about CSAs on your blog I searched for them in my area and found several. A lot of them were already sold out for 2008! Fortunately I found a farm nearby that is just starting up their CSA and I was able to get in. I’m super excited about it - I signed up for their produce program and their egg program. It’s an amazing deal for 24 weeks of food plus I feel great about supporting the local farmer. Anyway I just wanted to let you know that your post did inspire at least one person to sign up for a CSA too!

Amy - So happy to hear that you found a CSA near you! That’s something I should have mentioned in my post - they are pretty popular and it can be hard to get into one (especially once the season is underway).

For anyone else that’s interested in exploring CSAs, now is the time to act. If you can’t find one with an open slot near you, ask to be put on a waiting list for 2009.

Amy, I’ll be interested to hear what you think of your CSA after you’ve cycled through a season (and by the way - farm fresh eggs will change your life). Enjoy!
